Our Filipino and the Philippines' longest champion Donnie 'Ahas' Nietes will battle against the former long time WBC light flyweight champion Edgar Sosa from Mexico held at the StubHub Center, Carson, California this Saturday night - September 24, 2016. They will be showcasing their talent for the WBO Inter-Continental flyweight showdown on the main event of 'Philippines vs Mexico'. Donnie Nietes is the one who is moving up in weight from junior light flyweight to light flyweight division.

Donnie Nietes (38-1-4, 22KOs) vs Edgar Sosa (52-9-0, 30KOs) is a promising match up of the fight. Let us see how Donnie fights in this division as he giving up his WBO light flyweight belt to seek for another milestone in a higher division. According to Philboxing.com, Nietes decided to drop his WBO junior flyweight belt a few months ago to pursue possible lucrative fights with then WBA/WBO flyweight champion Juan Francisco Estrada and then WBC flyweight champion Roman Gonzalez. But Gonzalez, the acknowledged No. 1 pound for pound fighter in the world, gave up his flyweight belt to fight WBC super flyweight king Carlos Cuadras last Sep. 10 which Gonzalez won by unanimous decision. Estrada also decided to gave up his flyweight belts, just this week, to pursue a fight with Gonzalez and will face Filipino Raymond Tabugon on Oct. 8 in his initial fight of the super flyweight division. That left Nietes without a dance partner in his new division which has been left almost void by the two most bankable names in the lower weights.

Donie Nietes now 34, also held the WBO World Minimumweight title before his impressive run at light flyweight, setting the record for the longest reign held by a Filipino boxer will be facing former World Boxing Council (WBC) Light Flyweight champ Edgar Sosa in his first fight at flyweight. Edgar Sosa, on the other hand, is coming off a victory over Orlando Garcia Guerrero after his loss to current WBC World Flyweight champ Ramon “Chocolatito” Gonzalez via second round TKO in Inglewood, California last year.

In the interview, “I am going to stay here for a while and after, I will follow Gonzalez and Estrada in the super flyweight division,” Nietes, who is now ranked No. 1 by the WBO in the flyweight division after dominating the light flyweight and minimumweight divisions, He said.

In the undercard and in the co-main event, unbeaten ALA Boxing sensation Mark "Magnifico" Magsayo puts his WBO International Featherweight Championship on the line against Mexico's Ruben Garcia. Also in a featured bout, "King" Arthur Villanueva puts his newly-won WBO Asia Pacific Bantamweight Championship against Juan "El Peñita" Jimenez, a rematch of their controversial contest back in Bacolod.

Mark Magsayo will up against Ramiro Robles who is the replacement of the original foe. Robles (13-5-1, 8KO) only knew he would be fighting in California last Friday, Sep. 16, after Magsayo's original opponent, Ruben Garcia, backed out due to a reported injury. He knew nothing who Magsayo was and only come to know tidbits about him when he arrived in the US Tuesday. Magsayo (14-0-0, 11KOs) who will make his second appearance at StubHub, is cautious, and said he saw the fights of Robles on video. “He's a good boxer and likes to come forward and engaged so I have to be careful,” Magsayo said. Surely, Magsayo, who has trained for more than three months for this fight, is several notches up in readiness and judging from how soft Robles's midsection when Philboxing interviewed him on Wednesday, the danger here is not for Magsayo to lose but for Robles to get hurt badly from Magsayo's patented two-fisted attack. Also we can see in action pack undercards between Filipino King Arthur Villanueva vs. Juan Jimenez of Mexico.

Mark Magsayo (14-0-0, 11KO), who disposed former world title challenger Chris Avalos of California in six rounds last April in Cebu, will defend his WBO International featherweight title against a yet to be determined opponent. Magsayo has been training at Roach's Wildcard Gym in Los Angeles recently and returned to Cebu Monday from San Francisco together with the Pagara brothers Albert and Jason who co-headlined the 'Pinoy Pride 37' card at the San Mateo Event Center in San Mateo, California. How would Magsayo able to win this fight?

Arthur Villanueva (29-1-0, 15KO), who won the WBO Asia-Pacific bantamweight title over Juan Jimenez (22-10-0, 15KO) of Mexico last May 28 in Bacolod City, has been ordered by the WBO to rematch Jimenez after a sudden and bizarre ending of their last fight at the 21 second mark of the 4th round. If Villanueva wins impressively, can he get back to title contention?

It will be a much exciting fight to watch on. What do you think about the fight?

It will be a somewhat promising fight for Donnie Nietes as he move up in another division. Don't be afraid to watch the Pinoy Pride 38 - Donnie Nietes vs Edgar Sosa Live Streaming, Result, and Replay Update.
