It's time for the Vasyl Lomachenko vs Nicholas Walters Fight Live Update. What's your expectation about the fight? Vasyl Lomachenko (6-1; 4 KO) defending his WBO 130 pound title against challenger Nicholas Walters (26-0-1; 21 KO). Ring Magazine puts Lomachenko at #3 in the division and #7 on the pound for pound list. It's now or never!
We know that Vasyl Lomachenko has been described with a tremendous amount of superlatives, and for good reason. He’s a two time Olympic gold medalist for the Ukraine, with an amateur record of 396-1. He made his pro debut in 2013 and immediately jumped into the deep end, challenging veteran Orlando Salido for a world title in his second fight. Salido showed him what a crafty pro veteran is capable of, roughing Lomachenko up to take a win. Since then, Lomachenko has been flawless, going 5-0 and claiming world titles at both 126 and 130 pounds. He comes in off a win over Rocky Martinez in one of the best performances of the year. Now, Arum is talking about him as a possible future Pacquiao opponent. Isn't it?
To date, one of the most devastating knockouts of 2016, Lomachenko’s left uppercut-right cross combination was as sweet as it was vicious. If anyone was still doubting his in-ring brilliance, Lomachenko’s performance in this fight should have silenced the doubters. Lomachenko is good enough to still win other world titles if he loses to Walters. Arum would need to target some of the other super featherweight champions like Francisco Vargas, Jose Pedraza, Jason Sosa or Jezreel Corrales. It wouldn’t be a good idea for Arum to put Lomachenko back in with Walters if he loses to him, because it could be that Walters has his number. It would be terrible news for Lomachenko’s career if the boxing world sees him lose back to back fights to Walters. What's your fight prediction of the fight?
Sometimes, number doesn't count, despite having only fought seven times as a professional boxer, Lomachenko has the achieved the impressive feat of holding two world title belts at two different weight division. His number of fights was when he was in his amateur boxing career. Lomachenko is fast becoming known as the most skillful boxer in the world. The 28-year-old won two Olympic gold medals, in Beijing and London, and has become a two-weight world champion in only seven professional fights under the wise eyes of veteran Las Vegas-based promoter Bob Arum. He could even go up a third division and face a lightweight world champion in 2017, according to Arum. What do you think about this guy?
The unndisputed Lomachenko, rated No. 7 pound for pound by the RING and the WBO titleholder, was in negotiations to fight Walters in April but Walters pulled out because he wasn’t satisfied with his purse. The Ukrainian (6-1, 4 KOs) has only seven pro bouts but is already a two-division titleholder. He is coming off a fifth-round knockout of Roman Martinez on June 11 that earned him his belt. Walters (26-0-1, 21 KOs) made a splash by knocking out Nonito Donaire to win the WBA featherweight title in October 2014 but the Jamaican has fought only twice since. He is coming off a draw against Jason Sosa last December. So watch the fight and enjoy!
