This is is gonna be an awesome fight. Crawford (29-0, 20 KOs) will fight in front of his hometown crowd for the first time in over a year when he takes on John Molina Jr. (29-6, 23 KOs) in Omaha, Nebraska on Saturday night. Molina Jr. is on a two-fight win streak after losing three consecutive bouts including losses to Lucas Matthysse and Adrien Broner. Crawford and Molina Jr. will top a seven-bout fight card in Nebraska with just Crawford-Molina Jr. scheduled to be televised.
In the undercard action, WBO and NABO lightweight champ Mason Menard will take on Raymundo Beltran for Menard's two belts plus the vacant NABF lightweight strap. Crawford-Molina Jr. is scheduled to hit the ring and your TV at 9:35 p.m. ET on HBO.
WBC and WBO junior welterweight champion Terence Crawford (29-0, 20 KOs) had no problem making weight for his HBO Boxing main event. His challenger, however? Well let’s just say that Anthony Pettis wasn’t the only combat sports headliner on Friday to come in heavy on the scales.
John Molina Jr. (29-6, 23 KOs) needed to make 140 lbs to make his title fight vs. Crawford official, but he wasn’t even close. Molina came in at 144 pounds, but still had two hours to salvage his status as a title challenger, and dropped all the way down to 143.4. Not much closer, and definitely no cigar.
