Fight Card:
Lucas Matthysse vs. Ruslan Provodnikov

Patrick Teixeira vs. Patrick Allotey
Lucas Matthysse and Ruslan Provodnikov square off tonight at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York. The fight will be televised live by HBO Boxing After Dark at 9:45 p.m. ET/PT.
Ruslan (24-3, with 17 KOs) was previously in the ring with a knockout win over veteran Jose Luis Castillo in November 2014. That fight followed Provodnikov’s upset defeat to then-unknown Chris Algieri in May of that year.
Matthysse (36-3, with 34 KOs) enters tonight’s fight coming off back-to-back wins over Robert Ortiz and John Molina Jr. Prior to that, the 32-year-old Argentine suffered one of his three losses to super lightweight champ Danny Garcia in September 2013.
Lucas "The Machine" Matthysse and "The Siberian Rocky" Ruslan Provodnikov are set to do battle Saturday night at the Turning Stone Resort in Verona, New York, and Bleacher Report will bring you all the live round-by-round action.
In the co-feature, future pound-for-pound entrant Terence "Bud" Crawford (25-0, 17 KO) moves up to junior welterweight and meets Thomas Dulorme (22-1, 14 KO) for the vacant WBO Junior Welterweight Championship.
At this point in Provodnikov's career, he has to prove he can actually beat a good-to-elite fighter in his weight class. Up to now, he hasn't done that. He doesn't like "runners," but unfortunately for him, most opponents are not going to play to his strengths.
Matthysse vs. Provodnikov is a 12-round junior welterweight bout presented by Banner Promotions, Golden Boy Promotions in association with Arano Boxing Promotions and is ponsored by Corona Extra and Mexico, Live it To Believe It!. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. with the first bout scheduled for 8:00 p.m. and the HBO Boxing After Dark telecast at 9:45 p.m. ET/PT.
In fight analysis, maybe Ruslan outworks Matthysse for the UD Decision or stoppage! Matthysee has not shown himself to be much more than a Brawler where in contrast Ruslan can Box and Bang! Great Fight but too early for Fight of the Year declaration!
I gotta root for my boy Ruslan, but in all honesty I don't even know where to begin making a prediction at this point. I think either late stoppage by Provo, or decision by matthysse. I may catch some flack for saying it but I don't believe a draw would be out of the spectrum of possibility either. Let's do it!
