Miguel Cotto (45-1-1, 32 KOs) and Canelo Alvarez (45-1-1, 32 KOs) are set to square off tonight for Cotto’s Ring Magazine middleweight title at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Miguel Cotto vs Saul Alvarez is an a great boxing event to be held at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada. It will be televised on pay-per-view. Two of world boxing's biggest stars collide in a genuine megafight as lineal champion Miguel Cotto faces Saul Canelo Alvarez. It's a fight of the year contender as these two middleweight stars are set to do battle live on BoxNation this Saturday nigh from midnight at a catchweight of 155lbs to re-ignite the historic and fierce Mexico v Puerto Rico boxing rivalry.

Cotto said in the interview, "As I have always said, during my whole career, I am here to fight the best names and the best fighters,". He added "This will be another chapter in my career and I will be ready for him. Fans will enjoy a real fight, another classic battle in the Puerto Rico and Mexico rivalry."

The fight will be broadcast live by HBO Pay-Per-View beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT. In the U.K., Box Nation kicks off on Sunday at 1 a.m. It will be one of the greatest fight to ever watch.

Miguel Cotto is the first Puerto Rican world champ in four different weight classes. The 35 years old former Olympian was last in action stopping Daniel Geale in June. Prior to the Geale fight, Cotto had stopped middleweight legend Sergio Martinez in June of 2014 to lift the WBC World middleweight title. The future hall of famer has shared the ring with the biggest names in the sport today including Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao, and Shane Mosely.

While the 25-year-old Canelo Alvarez (45-1-1, 32 KOs), comes to tonight’s encounter having kayo’d tough guy James Kirkland, squeaked by Erislandy Lara, and demolished Alfredo Angulo since his only career defeat at the hands of Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2013. "I understand the magnitude of this fight and what it means for the history of Puerto Rico vs. Mexico," said Canelo. "I know this fight will go down as one of the most exciting and explosive nights in the famed rivalry and in the sport of boxing."

It will finally occur on pay-per-view from Las Vegas on Saturday, and though Alvarez (45-1-1, 32 knockouts) is a 3-1 favorite, there’s little doubt that Cotto(40-4, 33 KOs) has a solid chance to pull off what would be considered a minor upset.

The Miguel Cotto vs Canelo Alvarez cannot sell half as much as the Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao mega-dud did last May. But the match-up, relatively noiseless, is both significant and enticing it should help restore faith in prizefighting which had been damned by the Mayweather-Pacquiao multi-million-dollar fight.

We’ll ultimately see if Miguel has it in him to stop or otherwise severely test his opponent from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, who will likely weigh somewhere in the neighborhood of a light heavyweight. We’ll see if the newer version of Cotto at the age of 35 had the right idea in trainer Freddie Roach. We’ll see if just flying through three opponents in Delvin Rodriguez, Sergio Martinez and Daniel Geale looked better on canvas than they did on paper.

Cotto (40-4, 33 KOs), who has been on a tear since teaming up with Freddie Roach, has won three straight, all by stoppage including his destruction of former champ Sergio Martinez. Though at the tail end of his career, Cotto has never looked better, be it due to good matchmaking, a better training program with Roach, more confidence or a combination of those. Nonetheless, Cotto is on his A-game, and he’ll have to bring it against Canelo if he is to reign supreme.

Alvarez (45-1-1, 32 KOs), this presents a huge opportunity to walk away as the middleweight champ and add to his growing fan base as Mexico’s most popular, current, star. Canelo, who hasn’t yet reached his physical prime, has already earned invaluable experience against experienced veterans, including Floyd Mayweather, who gave Canelo his only pro loss in 2013. Since that loss, Alvarez has racked up three straight wins (2 by knockout) and also gained additional experience against a tricky fighter like Erislandy Lara.

It will be the greatest fight to watch in this planet. What's your fight prediction? Are you in for the Cotto-Canelo fight? The moment these two will step in the ring. It will be lights out for the two as the bell rings for the first time. Cotto has the edge in terms of experience but what makes Canelo on top of it, is because he is young and his strength is not the same as his old rival Cotto. But let see, everything can happen in the ring. War Cotto! War Canelo!
