Tonight we are going to witness the flyweight world champion Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez, one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world, will make his third title defense when he faces former unified titleholder Brian Viloria on Oct. 17 in one of the best fights in flyweight division.

Roman Gonzalez (43-0, 37 KOs), a former junior flyweight and strawweight champion before vacating those titles to move up in weight, was a big hit in his last fight when he made his HBO debut -- his first wide American television exposure.

The "The Hawaiian Punch," Viloria (36-4, 22 KOs), a 2000 U.S. Olympian and former flyweight and junior flyweight titleholder, is still going strong at age 34. He knocked out Hernan "Tyson" Marquez in the 10th round to unify to flyweight world titles in November 2012 before losing them by split decision to Juan Francisco Estrada in March 2013 in Macau, China.

"I've fought and won on the world's biggest stages against the best of the best. I've prepared my whole life to win at every level of competition from world amateur titles to the Olympic Games to professional world titles," Viloria said.

This is a really big deal because the Gonzalez vs. Viloria fight could prove to be an even more entertaining fight than the main event between Golovkin and Lemieux. Viloria is a lot better fighter than Edgar Soso, so this still could be a difficult fight for Roman Gonzalez unless he brings his A-game and comes out there ready for business. If Gonzalez can put Viloria away like he did Sosa, then it’ll be a sign that Gonzalez needs to step it up and face Estrada again in a rematch or move up in weight to the super flyweight division to look or bigger obstacles to confront.

Gonzalez looked great in stopping Edgar Sosa in 2 rounds last May on the undercard of the Golovkin vs. Willie Monroe Jr. card at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. Gonzalez absolutely destroyed a very good fighter in Sosa and made him look like a mediocre fighter. Gonzalez has way too much power for Sosa to deal with.

Roman Gonzalez stands only 5´3” tall and 63” reach but don’t let this statistical fact mislead you because he is a true giant inside the ring, he possess a superb exquisite boxing technique, not like a heavyweight belt holder who often lack of fundamentals, Roman really has mastered his craft to the elite level.

Brian Viloria isn’t a tailor made opponent picked to make Chocolatito look good, he is a real contender, former WBC-IBF light fly and WBO-WBA flyweight champion Viloria might be the underdog against Gonzalez, but he is a live underdog and cannot be counted out before the final bell.

So, let's tune in for the Roman Gonzalez vs Brian Viloria fight coverage and fight update.
