This is to be the farewell fight of the best pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather, four months removed from his historic victory against Manny Pacquiao in the richest fight in boxing history, said Tuesday he will return to defend his welterweight world titles against Andre Berto on Sept. 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. do you think this is really his farewell fight? Or do you think of Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight after this?

Floyd Mayweather (48-0, 26 KOs), who will be fighting at the MGM Grand for the 12th consecutive time, has repeatedly said the fight, which will be televised on Showtime PPV (8 p.m. ET), will be the final fight of his brilliant, 19-year career.

Andre Berto (30-3, 23 KOs), a two-time welterweight world titleholder who currently holds an interim belt, is just 3-3 in his past six bouts and viewed by many as an easy mark for Mayweather.

In the interview, "I don't overlook any opponent but I've been here before, I know what it takes to win a fight of this magnitude," he said. "Just stay focused, stay on a parallel path and go and do what I do best and that's win. "He's another top guy, he has a high knockout ratio, he's a tough and rugged competitor but I've faced everybody in the sport of boxing. I've faced Pacquiao, I've faced (Miguel) Cotto, I've faced Canelo (Saul Alvarez), I've already faced the best fighters."

ndre Berto said: "It doesn't matter, coming from where I come from, we never had a chance to come out of that but just the fact that I'm here, it tells you something. I'm not listening to any of that.

The underdog is considered to be the weakest opponent Mayweather has taken on in quite some time, having lost three of his last six fights. But Mayweather has chosen to end his career against the 32-year-old welterweight, instead of facing one of the biggest nūames in the division.

When choosing Berto for his next fight following that marquee showcase led to a lot of dismay throughout the boxing community. The underdog wasn't viewed as a top contender after losing three of his past six fights, though he has won his last two.

Again in the interview, "You have fighters that may be faster than me, there are fighters that may hit harder than me, you have fighters who are very athletic, but you don’t have a fighter who can make adjustments like me,” Mayweather told the final pre-fight press conference. “It’s never personal for me, it’s always business. Everyone fights for what they fight for. My thing is this: I keep my eyes on the prize. I don’t focus on things outside the ring. I focus on the guy in front of me." He added: “I want my legacy to be of a remarkable fighter inside the ring and a great businessman outside of it."

About the tickets, If, as Mayweather would have us believe, this is the last time he will enter the ring, then he would surely want to go out on a high note. If not, then it can be safely suggested that a swashbuckling performance would be needed to pique the interest for his next bout, assuming there is a next time, as most people expect. Given all the flak the fight has taken, if fans end up leaving Saturday’s contest talking about it for anything other than another blowout, or another letdown, or another excuse for people to find something better to do with their money, it will have been an impressive comeback indeed.

The main event will start a little after 11:30 p.m. ET. Check out our Mayweather vs. Berto results page to find out what happened on the undercard.
