Chavez failed to make weight, a sure sign that he did not buckle down in training camp as he swore he had. This time he was overweight for his fight against Marcos Reyes scheduled for Saturday night at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas.
While Reyes, a career middleweight and junior middleweight, weighed in at 168.4 pounds, under the 170-pound maximum limit, Chavez was 170.8 pounds.
